MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Membership is open to those individuals who support and believe in the objectives of the CSS /SCS. There are four categories of membership in the CSS / SCS.
  • Full membership.
This includes all professions (MD, PhD, RN, etc...)
  • Technologists.
  • Students and trainees.
  • Corporate members.

Benefits of Membership

  1. Special rates on sleep information brochures. The society has a number of information brochures and a variety of sleep disorders topics available to its members at low rates.

  2. Reduced registration fees for selected meetings (e.g., World Federation of Sleep Research Societies, CSS / SCS).

  3. Regular newsletter. Three times a year the CSS / SCS produces Vigilance, a newsletter designed to keep the membership up to date with happenings to the Society and within the field of sleep in general. Vigilance also provides a forum for discussion of controversies in the field of sleep and sleep disorders medicine.

  4. Access to the CSS / SCS Home Page on the World Wide Web. This page is currently under development but will, in the future, provide an electronic access to Vigilance, announcements and other information pertaining to the society.

  5. Access to SLEEP-L (requires E-mail address). SLEEP-L is a list server based on a mainframe computer at Queen's University dedicated to consultation and general communication among members of the international community of clinicians and researchers in the field of sleep. A subscription of SLEEP-L is not open to the general public, but it has been made available to all new members of the CSS / SCS.

  6. Access to the CSS / SCS Membership List. This allows you to learn of your colleagues in various areas of the country, to develop a network of expertise for clinical and/or research endeavours.

  7. CSS / SCS Dinner. Once a year the CSS / SCS has a dinner for its members as part of its annual meeting. Paid memberships are subsidized for this event.

  8. Student prizes for research work. At the annual dinner meeting prizes are awarded to the students presenting the best abstract at the scientific meeting.

  9. Advertising in CSS / SCS Publications. Corporate sponsors receive acknowledgement of their support in Vigilance and on the CSS /SCS WWW page.
