"Napping softens all the edges and smoothes the shredded places. Naps are the adult version of a child's fort. A love of privacy and place for make-believe."
As this excerpt suggests, this book aims to provide inspiration, not information. Hand-written in different colored marking pens, it's evidently designed to attract gift-buyers. The title page even includes a place to write the recipient's name. It's sweet, but simplistic. The author-illustrator, who goes by her initials, SARK, asserts naps fuel her creativity. She encourages readers to give themselves permission to nap. "Nap," she claims, "and a miracle will probably occur." For a much more sophisticated and humorous look at this topic, see The Art of Napping by William Anthony. He wins the witty nap-book contest lying down. |
