Don't do that! It's not like alchohol. You can't go cold turkey. At last not that I know of. I do know exactly what your are talking about. I experienced exactly the same thing when I would miss my effexor dose. I'm a longtime sufferer of severe depression and have tried many many meds, none of which ever seemed to really make things better. So, I say, Yes! try your hardest to get off it. But, Don't do it cold turkey. As far as I can see, there's no reason. It's not like alchohol where you develope cravings and nervousness. You simply reduce the dose gradually, (say 1/4 to 1/2 dose less per week) untill finally you can stop completely without any of the electric jolts. Good luck. Rich
