This is very interesting. My tinitus started around the time I had two "slipped" discs in my neck in Jan 2000. I suggested the connection to my doctor & consultant but they did not confirm this may be the cause. Maybe you're on to something. The sound I have is a constant tone about 10khz dead centre with a weaker low frequency rumble.
