Some of the best years of my life was spent growing up in Maryland. When I was 10 years old my family and I lived in Mardela Springs. My little sister, who was 5 years old, was born severely mentally retarded. She was very special to me and I would pray and pray to Jesus that she would walk someday so we could play together. We lived in an older 2-story home. I shared a bedroom upstairs with my older sister while my brother and little sister had bedrooms of their own, also upstairs. One evening my Mother was watching TV downstairs, one room away from the stairs, while my siblings and myself were fast asleep in our beds, I had a twin bed. She was waiting for my Dad to get home from work. My Mother heard footsteps upstairs, like one of us had gotten up and was walking around. So, she proceeded to go upstairs to tell who ever it was to go to bed. When she went up there we were all fast asleep, to her surprise. She went back downstairs to the couch to watch TV again. As soon as she sat down she heard footsteps again, so she goes back upstairs. Again, she sees that we are all fast asleep, suspecting we were playing a trick on her. Again, she goes back downstairs to watch TV. Now she hears this again for the 3rd time after she sits down. She feels certain at this point we're playing a trick on her. This time, she sneaks quietly upstairs only to find us all asleep like before. At this point she is totally puzzled and spooked by the whole thing. She goes back downstairs to watch TV again. When she sat down on the couch she heard the footsteps coming down the steps from upstairs. She immediately turned up the TV loud, curled up on the couch frightened out of her wits and waited an eternity for my Dad to come home. Around the same period of time, my older sister that I shared a bedroom with awoke one night terrified by what she saw standing at the foot of my bed. Peering at me from the foot of my bed was a short little old lady about 3 foot tall dressed in a white dress. All my older sister could do was to throw the covers over her head. She couldn't even cry out because she was so frightened. All she could think of was "poor Geri", I slept through the whole thing. Much later in life, as an adult, I dreamt my little sister was a short little old lady several times. I would also have paralyzing states where I would start floating, taxiing like a jet ready for take-off and start zooming so fast that it felt like the skin was literally peeling off my body. One time I ended up near an old style 2-story house with wood siding. It was a pale yellow color with a front porch. At this point I can levitate and passed through the front door that was shut. I saw 2 little girls going upstairs. I followed them to a bedroom with a wooden rocking chair. As I sat in the chair I immediately fell through it backwards moving it slightly. The older girl looked at me while the other noticed nothing. I asked, "Can you see me?" She responded by nodding her head yes. I asked her if she could show me where they lived on a map. She went to her Mother with the other little girl following inquistitively. Her Mother was downstairs in the kitchen with another woman busy canning, neither one of them saw me. The older girl asked her Mother to show her on a map where they lived and her Mother pointed to an area in Oregon. Then - boom - I'm back in my bed wide awake in the Four Corners area. I truely believe the ghost at the foot of my bed when I was 10 years old was my little sister, who was trying to show me she could walk and for me to get up to play with her. And that my Mother's intuition was correct in that one of us was playing a trick on her. The little girl in Oregon who helped me more than likely thought I was a ghost also. My Sister's Gift became my Gift. What a profound thought. Peace and Compassion, Geri
