Follow-Up:
Everything Kayla said is true- snoring is present in almost all people who have OSA (but most people who snore don't have OSA). The big question is whether simple snoring is a very mild form of OSA, OR whether OSA and snoring are just found togther and are both caused by something else altogether. Or one paper last year that argued that snoring eventually caused OSA. This was argued to be caused through the chronic harmful vibration in the back of the throat which may have damaged sensation in the nerves in the muscles that hold open the airway. So as you go to sleep with these damaged nerve endings in your throat your brain is less able to monitor the situation and the airway is more prone to collapse. I'm not sure that this theory is in anyway generally accepted yet (more evidence would be needed) but it's certaily interesting. Comments
