I have had BMS for about a year. It began following trauma in my life with deaths, job difficulties, husbands illness etc. It appears BMS is triggered by stressors of some kind be it dentistry for some, hormones, depression etc. The response to body trauma, or triggers does not appear to be the same for all of us sufferes. Our nervous system begins to overfire and cause this nerve irritability syndrome. I was even getting nerve like impulses down my body when trying to sleep. I also experienced tingling sensations in my hands and feet. I was lucky enough to read articles and message boards and am essentially cured by clonazepam .5 mg am and pm. This syndrome is has similarities to Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy which is an over reaction of the sympathectic nervous system in response to trauma, often a bone fracture. The patient experience debilitating pain long after the original injury has healed. RSD is treated by nerve blocks and neurontin( anti-seizure med) which is also the action of clonazepam. Hope this has been as helpful. This board has made a huge difference in my life. Thank You
