I have had this syndrome for 7 years. The only thing that sooths my BMS is biotene toothpaste. I have tried baking soda and Toms. After reading some of these posts, I'm thinking maybe we might be on to something regarding toothpaste or mouthwash. I would love to sue SOMEONE for this awful CONDITION! I have been examined by my dentist, internist, (2) ear/nose/throat specialists, had CAT scan, blood test and NOTHING to remedy this condition....I thought last week after searching the internet, that it might be "lingual nerve damage" from my dentists injections. Allergic reaction from toothpaste, or a mouthwash makes more sense. I can remember having the hygenist after cleaning my teeth, give me a rinse which she told me to swish in my mouth and hold. I was in tears when I released the wash. I could not rinse anymore. It was terrible burning. Then I believe several days later I lost the "mucosa" lining in my mouth, it just peeled away. My dentist did some research back then and told me that some people are sensitive to toothpaste with plaque, whiteners, and/or floride chemicals. This is starting to make more sense as I read these recent posts. I have been looking for a remedy. I hope it brings some responses.....To soothe the burning, please try biotene toothpaste its over the counter, it also comes in mouthwash, I haven't tried the gum.....I don't have sores in my mouth, I DO have burning in my mouth and sides of my tongue, and a metallic taste. Even water tastes funny.......Karen
