My mother has suffered from Burning mouth and I am wondering if it is hereditary and if it also involves the lips. Out of the clear blue sky I seemed to wake up one day with severely chapped lips and it has lasted 3 months so far with no improvement. My mouth or tongue and gums do not seem to be related or in any pain but my lips are so raw all the time it is ridiculous, no amount of balm, vitamin E, diaper ointment w/zinc etc.... gives my any relief. Now there all around my lips it is beginning to be red with small blemishes. I truthfully would feel silly going to the doctor for chapped lips. Any ideals at all would be appreciated. Carla
