Subject: Sleep Apnea - CPAP or surgery

Question posted by Donna (youngbloodsvcs@aol.com) on 5:2:32 2/19/2002

Question:

I am a 35 year old female. I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and have been trying to adjust to my CPAP machine. I tend to remove the mask by 3 or 4:00 every morning because I wake up and cannot get back to sleep with it on. I have been told that I am a good candidate for surgery because I am young, I am not overweight, and my sleep apnea is moderate. My question is this: Should I consider surgery and can I expect it to eliminate my sleep apnea?
