hi...I have just been told that I have a plantar fibromatoma on the arch of my foot. the podiatrist I saw said she would recommend surgery. I then went to a regular M.D. who said to either have it removed or to watch it for awhile...if it didn't get bigger and/or wasn't painful, I could just leave it alone...after reading the comments on this site and hearing how often it returns after surgery I am VERY hesitant to do the surgery...I don't want to go thru all that only to have it come back and need to have surgery again!!!!it is still small, and though not PAINFUL, it IS tender...if i do opt for surgery, is a podiatrist the right person to do it, or an orthopedic surgeon???any info or fedback to help me decide what to do will be muchly appreciated...thanks and good luck to everybody with this problem...it's very frustrating not knowing WHAT to do and the ?'s of it continuing to be a long term problem with unclear results after the surgery...HELP!!!
