I have had burning mouth or tongue for 27 years. It all started with Pennicillin that I was taking for a sore throat. Like everyone else with this problem nothing seemed to help. For 5 years I had to chew gum every minute to ease the burning. It is located in the center of my tongue. It gets red and has a white coating on it. I seemed to notice that any kind of medication that I tried to take just made it worse. So I stopped all medicines and the problem seemed to get better for a while. It did not go completely away, but I could live with it. About 4 months ago I was trying Soy nuts to help with menopause problems and I had one of the worst flare ups that I had had in some time. The coating came back and my tongue burned like fire. Now anything I eat with soy in it makes the burning come back. Everyone thinks that I am crazy. I spent 5 years going to doctors. I was told it was everything from yeast to anxiety. Some told me that it wasn't something that was life threatening so dont't make so much out of it. Wish they had it. I had come to the conclusion that I was having allergic reactions to everything until I read all of these messages . It really eases my mind to know that someone else sufferes with this. If anyone finds acure let me know. I can't stand to be told "it's just you" when doctors don't know the answers.
