Question: my 14 year old son has been on ritalin since he was 6. we have had wonderful results (for the most part) until recently. my pharmacist mentioned that puberty can cause problems with the liver processing the ritalin. I've read many books on ADHD and Ritalin and i've pulled alot of info from the web, but i don't remember seeing this addressed. My son is currently on 40 mgs daily, (20 in a.m. & 20 at noon)but the effectiveness seems to be diminishing causing inappropriate outbursts, etc. at school and his inability to focus and stay on task is beginning to affect him academically. please let me know if you have any info if puberty has an impact on the use & effectiveness of ritalin.
