Follow-Up: Well Becky, I can relate! I was diagnosed in Sept. of '96, after many years of frustration and struggling to find an answer (yes, I can absolutely relate to the misdiagnosis experience!!!). I have been blessed with a fabulous neurologist, who offered a diagnosis after reading the sleep studies conducted and reviewed by other neurologists). He monitors my medication and blood (liver) to my satisfaction. I switched from Ritalin (30 mg/day) to Pemoline (75 mg/day) about 8-10 months ago, hoping to better address the problem of waking in the morning. Have experienced great success re daytime sleepiness & daytime attacks, and have experienced some success re the a.m. waking. I look forward to the day that I will wake with one alarm clock (vs 2-3 alarms and a faithful friend calling repeatedly every a.m. til I pick up the phone.......she then keeps me talking til I wake up). STRANGE, but I imagine you know of what I speak! In June I'll be going for further sleep studies (my 4th 'set') & have been referred to yet another neurologist for consultation. What I would like to know most of all @ this point from anyone reading this, is ideas re non-drug treatments (ex. have read two messages already re cutting out sugar/aspertame), and info re the CAUSE of I.H. Call me crazy, but I'd just like to know WHY!? Pleasant dreams! Rosalie, Ottawa, Canada
