Follow-Up: As soon as I started taking St. John's Wort, within 45 minutes of the first dose, I noticed a difference. The bottle directions called for 3 capsules per day. that amounts to 1,500 mg. per day. Too much! Side effects were hair trigger temper and excessive saliva when sleeping. To make a long story short, I am now on a 500 mg. regime per day with excellent results. Upbeat, good overall outlook, good energy, and such. The bad news. I tried to ween off them without success. Depression kicks as soon as the St. John's wears off.
