Follow-Up: Hi , I'm another one of you "Grinders/Clenchers" (NO HISTORY of this in the past , 38 YEAR MALE) Iam doing IT while awake, currently have a mouthguard in and it lets me grind away without damage but its like it gives me permission to do it all the more. It started last summer 1999 and it seems like it came out of the blue . I have a stressful job at times as an ambulance attendant but after 10 years i don,t take my work home with me anymore so i can't say stress is the answer although I have been taking Prozac for depression for five years or so . I stopped taking it in January thinking it may have started the problem, I read somewhere that the drug xtc that teenagers take when they attend there dance partys called "Raves" have reported abnormal teeth grinding to the point of breaking their teeth. It is said that this drug affects the Seritonon system in the brain by secreting to much of the above neuro transmitter and it makes me wonder if long term use of prozac and other S.S.R.I.'S ARE HAVING A SIMILAR AFFECT ON ME.Does anyone know of any incidents of this being reported with these drugs? Also,I had a partial crown in January 1999 in the very back of my right upper jaw. It always seemed a little high but i thought i would get used to it , it fell out while chewing on a carmel in september 1999 and was quickly glued back in place and has remained in place. I had it filed down a bit in January 2000 when i got my bite plane but it has not made a difference as to the desire to clench or grind and it is always the other side of the mouth that wants to clench come together so to speak, not the side that had the high crown . Any advice appreciated thanks,, ps hurry before i get so depressed i have to take another Prozac lol
