Follow-Up: I also have recently switched to Provigil from Ritalin. I have been on Ritalin for the past 2 years. /while I did not have tons of problems with it I felt it would be best if I could find something else that might work better with my personality. At times it seemed to wire me or make me more irritable. But if there was no alternative I would stay with the Ritalin as I am WAY better on Ritalin than with nothing. I have been on 200mg of Provigil for the past 2 weeks. I supplement the Provigil with 5mg of Ritalin twice a day. That seems to be enough to get me through the day. I find that I am sleeping sounder since I have been on the Provigil. However, I need to have 8-1/2 to 9 hours of sleep if I want to make it through the day. But it was the same on Ritalin. My doctor feels I either have a Narcolepsy variant or Primary CNS Hypersomnia. Whatever I have it's very severe but seems to respond well to medications. I tried Cylert at 1st but that did not work for me. My doctor was almost positive that Provigil would not work for me based on how his other patients have done so he was surprised to hear I have had to take very little Ritalin with the Provigil. Only time will tell as it seems that people seem to build up a tolerance or something and Provigil doesn't work long term. But I am keeping my fingers crossed as the doctor feels it is a better drug for my body than having to use a higher dose of Ritalin. I am hopeful! Maybe you could talk to your doctor about a combo of Provigil and Ritalin. Since Ritalin is way cheaper than Provigil it would certainly be cost effective if it kept you off of a higher dose. Good luck! Chris
