Follow-Up: My 16 year old daughter has been taking Provigil for one year now. After severe Mono, she had excessive daytime sombulence (couldn't stay awake and was unable to concentrate for extended periods when awake). Her neurologist prescribed provigil and although she had to gradually work up to 400 mgs as it made her very sick to her stomach, she now has no side effects and is wakeful and doing very well in tenth grade (she was on medical homebound all of 9th as she was too sleepy to attend school at all! and had gone from a straight A honors student to unable to understand a simple passage of reading due to the exhaustion)She is not yet back in honors classes but has all A's in the "high" level classes, an active social life and is happy and healthy! She insists that Provigil lessens her appetite. She did lose 26 pounds and at 5'6" is 125 lbs. now which she thinks is great. We think the weight loss is due to the extra weight she had put on due to a year of inactivity due to the sleepiness..before becoming ill, she was a dancer. Anyway..she is doing super on Provigil! THANK GOD!!!!!! She does still get very tired under stress and goes to bed much earlier than most teens but she is doing SO MUCH BETTER! I believe Provigil is a miracle drug and that it saved, if not her life, then certainly her lifestyle!
