Follow-Up: I've been taking Provigil for several months to counteract sedation, which is a side effect of opioid medication I must take for chronic pain. The Provigil is working great for me. It definitely makes a big difference. I no longer dose off, especially around 6 pm. I now stay wide awake and much more alert for 12 consecutive hours after I take the Provigil in the morning. After suffering from worsening sedation for more than a decade, the Provigil really is a godsend for me. Frankly, I didn't expect it to work so well. Also, I'm not aware of any negative side effects from this med.
